Our General English course helps you communicate more accurately and efficiently. The ELS General English course supports you as you develop skills that will help you communicate in English-speaking situations. In the mornings, you will study the fundamentals of the English language through Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies, Vocabulary Enrichment (or Skills Enhancement, in Master's levels), and a lesson in the Language Technology Center. Your afternoons will focus on Skills Enhancement Classes.
ELS offers 12 levels of instruction to accommodate students of all abilities. All ELS programs offer placement testing to help determine your level of proficiency and place you in the level that is the best fit for you.
You will learn the basics and foundations of the English language in the lower levels. As you progress through the levels, you will find more and more complexity in your courses.
At the end of each three-month session, students who meet the requirements of their level will move up to the next level.
As you move through the levels, you will gain new opportunities through more challenging courses and through higher education options.
